In the beginning, after being influenced by the shadows she saw on the grass of trees, she worked for months to develop a technique which did not depict the object in a 2D image. Instead, the object is transformed into a representation of the subject, where the surface is the vehicle for its personal interpretation by painting, particularly when the subjects are live or perishable objects like people or fruit. Alexa Meade's style of painting, that is a bit ephemeral in the sense that it is amorphous, transparent. The only thing from her work that is preserved is the photograph. Techniques of photography and painting closely synchronized, which results in a flat, two-dimensional area that is trompe l'oeil. The only parts of the image such as the hair, or eyes, reveal the third dimension. Meade has also integrated her model paintings into the 3D space that surrounds them. The interaction between them as well as the world they created can be achieved. In this way, she has removed the borders between painting, photography and performing.
